@winomagazine Spends a Day at #seawineawards by @wineawards (What???)
June 17, 2009 by Doug Haugen
I have never seen so many Twitterers in one room. Maybe I just don’t get out enough, but when I was at the Seattle Wine Awards Grand Tasting on Sunday, it was all a-Twitter. Phones were snapping pics and people were pounding at the keys getting all the updates loaded up to the #seawineawards conversation on Twitter. The event organizers had erected a large monitor in the hall, showing the Twitter feed as it happened live, and it scrolled along like a stock ticker. This is the CNN of the future. No, wait, that’s the CNN of today.
WINO Magazine gave out two pairs of tickets to the Grand Awards Tasting to contestants who submitted some great haikus about wine. One of these two contestants, @Ashlynkat, was downright prolific, uploading tweets with gusto. Even we (@winomagazine) were able to burn off a few inbetweeen conversations with the awesome winemakers.
Since Twitter is all the rage nowadays, the organizers of the Seattle Wine Awards (@wineawards)were busy helping wineries sign up for Twitter accounts throughout the day. What an awesome service, demonstrating that the Seattle Wine Awards are truly about recognizing the efforts of Washington wineries, and supporting the industry.
