The Naked Wine Show

When starting up a new online wine program, how do you set yourself apart from all the others out there? How do you compete with the likes of Gary Vaynerchuk and his Wine Library TV? Susan Sterling over at slurpswish.com had a bright idea. Do it naked.

The Naked Wine Show takes wine reviews surprisingly seriously considering Sterling isn’t wearing any clothes. (Spoiler: there’s nothing pornographic about NWS.) Sterling gives educational tidbits about wine, tastes and describes wines, and new episodes are posted roughly on a weekly basis. Tasting notes for each episode are available on their blog.

Will the Naked Wine Show compete with GVay and all the rest?  Time will tell. Have a look.

    Well we know who their audience is anyway with a naked woman tasting the wine. But women buy a lot of wine too, maybe they’ll launch a new site in the same vein devoted to the ladies??!! :) The videos are good, although not as spontaeous as GaryV. I totally get the need to differentiate yourself in this industry so good for them, I think they did it.

    I agree. It’s a bit scripted, but well produced. We’ll see if it takes off.

    First time I have heard of this show. Pretty cool. Susan is very knowledgeable about wine. I have to ask, is she really completely nude during the show?

    Well, ok, it looks like naked, but a sharp eye will catch the edge of a top rise up from the bottom edge on occasion. And I think the psychology would be more complicated if the host actually were in the buff.

    There is some sharp wine commentary to be enjoyed, but it would have more teeth if it were not so consistently positive, no? It comes off as highly informed salesmanship.
